Goodbye Ordinary

Days 20 & 21: Old Friend, New Teacher

Posted on: April 22, 2013

This weekend I got to be a part of something awesome.

A girl I played volleyball with back when I was in 8th grade, is about to finish her YTT this coming weekend. She was a year behind me in school (though I was only there 7th and 8th grade), and started practicing yoga with Kath her 8th grade year.

This weekend she was back in town and took over the weekend classes as her Yoga teaching debut.

She was incredible.

Day 20: Saturday morning was her very first class. I was in it. It was packed.

We did a bunch of variations that were new and delicious. It was light and fun, while being challenging and strong. Her voice was soothing, like an encouraging lullaby.

She gave assists that were exactly that little bit of extra “oomph” that your body was requesting and you just couldn’t quite get it by yourself.

It was a phenomenal class. I would have never guessed it was her first time.

Day 21: Then, on Sunday I went to the later class. We had a smaller group, which meant we got even more individual attention (yay!).

We started out strong, did some churning. It was intense and got the prana flowing, so much so that it seemed to be oozing out of our bodies in our sweat. Aliveness was everywhere in that room.

Then, we worked our way back down, slowly, with attention and patience. Until finally, savasana. Mmmm. It was titillating.

Brynne was such a wonderful bookend experience to my weekend. Check our her blog here. ❤

Namaste,

Brin
